THE Sergey Lavrov gave a television interview and emphasized that the Russia wishes to stop as soon as possible o war in Ukraine and at the same time to settle the issues that have arisen between the two states.
“We are in no rush, as President Vladimir Putin said. We want to settle the situation as soon as possible, to put an end to this war that the West was preparing and finally launched against us through Ukraine,” the Russian foreign minister said.
Lavrov made it clear that Moscow has no desire for dialogue with the Westas Western leaders “have declared that security in Europe must be built at the expense of Russia.”
At the same time, he reminded that condition for restarting the dialog with Kyiv is the Ukrainian government to recognize Russia’s annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
Referring to the delivery of American Patriot missiles to Ukraine, Lavrov said he had been told in Russia through diplomatic channels that Washington did not intend to clash militarily with Moscow: “We asked the Americans if the decision to transfer the Patriot system means that there will be American experts there (in Ukraine)… They explained to us in detail that there are no such plans, precisely because the Americans do not want to clash with Russia. They said it would take several months for the Patriot system to be operationally ready, so that the Ukrainians could be trained to use it.
The head of Russian diplomacy argued that the main reason why Washington insists on repeating the inspections under the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, it is for “understand what awaits them in the event of a direct conflict with Russia».
