Ryabkov said that the option of developing a platform capable of connecting the digital currency systems of the central banks of the BRICS countries with each other is being studied. Let us remember that BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.
According to the Deputy Minister of Finance, discussions are underway on unifying national systems for transmitting financial messages, and a special exchange channel has already been created between central banks.
“In practical terms, several options are being considered. For example, settlements in stablecoins or the option of creating a platform that will unite the financial systems of its participants,” Ryabkov said.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Assistant for Foreign Policy Yuri Ushakov said that BRICS seeks to create an independent payment system based on blockchain and digital national assets.
