Sergio Vale: Inflation and high interest rates already impact Brazilian growth in 2023

O CNN Specialist Sergio Vale spoke about inflation in the country, which has not yielded and should remain at the same level until April or May.

“Annual inflation has been approaching more and more than 6%, with the risk of getting higher due to the pressure of commodities”, said the CNN Specialist.

With the difficulty in keeping inflation within the target, the Central Bank has to take more aggressive measures in an attempt to control it. The Selic interest rate should end the next few months between 12% and 13%.

“The impact of this is the slowdown of the economy in 2022, bringing risks to 2023”, according to Vale.

Economic expectations for 2023 are already being affected, and the expected growth is 1.5% for next year, but the political scenario is still uncertain, according to the expert.

“We should be worried about inflation and high interest rates not only this year, but next year as well,” Vale pointed out.
