Sergio Vale: It is likely that we will have a closed inflation of up to 6% this year

This Tuesday (25), the CNN economics specialist Sergio Vale commented on the inflation rate in the country and elements that influence the results of the IPCA.

Vale assessed that the “IGPs signaled a rise between 1.5% and 2% at the beginning of January and, probably, we will have inflationary pressure appearing over the next few months, making it difficult for the IPCA to decline throughout 2022”.

The economics specialist believes that “we have closed inflation for the year between 5% and 6%, but that will pose difficulties for the Central Bank (BC)”.

Vale said that the increase in the number of cases due to the new Ômicron variant also ends up affecting the inflation rate, since “it causes many people to become contaminated and have to stay at home, causing problems in the distribution of inputs around the world”.

The expert CNN concluded that the scenario points to the continuity of double-digit inflation. “It is likely that we will stay at this level until March or April,” he said.
