The Justice of São Paulo converted the temporary detention of Renato Teixeira, 35 years old, into preventive detention after the custody hearing.
He was arrested last Wednesday (5) in Franco da Rocha, in Greater São Paulo, after being accused of killing two men and a woman, between 2020 and 2022, in Santo André and São Bernardo do Campo.
In testimony to the police, Renato confessed to having committed a total of nine murders.
Police officers also seized a stolen motorcycle, a cell phone and narcotics.
Police Chief Roberto Krasovic, who is investigating the case, informed the CNN that informally, to colleagues and other people in crime, Renato said that he had killed 14 people.
The delegate said that part of the murders that Renato Teixeira says he committed may not exist.
To the police, Renato said that he knew the victims through relationship apps and that he always stabbed them to death.
Renato was indicted for qualified homicide and reception, since at the time of the arrest he was on a stolen motorcycle.
Still according to the delegate, the man did not indicate lawyers and no one came forward to act in his defense.
Justice must determine whether or not to request a mental health report. The prison he was taken to was not disclosed by security.
The São Paulo State Secretariat for Public Security confirmed, through a note, the arrest of the man.
A CNN has yet to receive a response regarding inquiries made about other arrest warrants open against the man.
