Alagoas killer Albino Santos de Lima was sentenced to 37 years in prison. The decision was made after a popular jury that took place on Friday (11) in Maceió.
The jurors attacked the prosecution thesis of the State of Alagoas (MMPAL), and condemned the defendant for the crime of doubly qualified homicide committed against Emerson Wagner da Silva, and for the attempted murder against another young man.
“The crime occurred because Albino did not like Emerson, alongside his friend, he went to question him about why he tried to enter his girlfriend’s house. Even this teenager has the same profile as other victims already murdered by the defendant, so the accused tried to enter the residence, and only could not because the door was closed,” said the prosecutor, Thiago Riff.
During the jury, three witnesses were presented: the survivor, who gave details of how the crime occurred, the ex-wife and the son-in-law of the former partner, who reported Albino Santos’ aggressive behavior.
Remember the case
Following a detailed investigation by the Alagoas Civil Police and expert examinations conducted by the 47 -year -old Albino Santos de Lima Institute, he was identified as responsible for a series of murders in Maceió in 2024. The convict is considered the largest serial killer in state history.
According to the Civil Police of Alagoas all victims of Albino Santos were under 25 years old. The killer even visited the cemeteries where part of his victims were buried and take selfies on the tombstone.
In all, 18 deaths are attributed to Albino Santos, of which he would have confessed 16. The crimes would have occurred between 2019 and 2024. In testimony, the defendant even stated that he committed one of the murders while he was “possessed” and under orders of “Archangel Miguel”, which, he said, also advised him to visit cemeteries and photograph the graves of the victims.
The jury is the crime that took place on June 21, 2024, in the Ponta Grossa neighborhood, in the city’s suburb. According to the complaint of the Public Prosecution Service of Alagoas (MP-AL), at the time, the accused would have invaded a woman’s house and asked her boyfriend, Emerson Wagner da Silva. As he left the scene, Albino noticed being followed and fired at Emerson and his friend. Emerson was hit, his friend managed to escape.
