Serial killer spreads terror in Stockton, California – He’s on a ‘mission’

The police in Stockton, at Californiareleased yesterday Tuesday video from a security camera depicting a “person of interest” who wants to question a series of six murders, estimating that the perpetrator is likely serial killer and is on a “mission”.

These cases, which have terrified many in the city of 300,000 inhabitants almost a hundred kilometers east of San Franciscowere linked by forensics officers who took a ballistics test, Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden explained during a news conference.

The murders, with the use of a firearm, were committed between April 10 and September 27. Six victims succumbed. The seventh, a woman, survived.

“We don’t know what the motive” of the attacker is, said Mr. McFadden, adding, however, that the killer appears to be “on a mission.”

The police chief also said that it is not clear if the victims — men and women between the ages of 21 and 54 — are connected, or how. All were attacked in or around Stockton, with the exception of the sole survivor, a 46-year-old who was attacked in Oakland, as reported by Reuters and relayed by the Athens News Agency.

Security camera footage released by Stockton police doesn’t help much: it only shows the back of a walking man, who Mr McFadden described as a “person of interest”. It crosses a corridor on the outside of a building, whether an apartment building or a motel.

The police chief hastened to clarify that there is no evidence that this man is the perpetrator of the murders, he said that his men simply want to question him for now as part of the ongoing investigation.

He invited viewers to notice the man’s “uneven strides” and the upright posture of his torso. He added that a $125,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
