Series about financial market promises to be Brazilian “Succession”

The series “Whose money is it?” — adaptation of the book of the same name — promises to be the “Brazilian ‘Succession’”, according to exclusive information from the portal Deadline.

The producer responsible for the series is Diosual, with a script by Solange Castro Neves and collaboration with Thalma Bertozzi. The program will be an adaptation of the non-fiction book that followed the day-to-day life of the stock market, “Whose Money Is It? Greed, Fear, Bad Luck and Luck: Victories and Mishaps in the Stock Exchange”, by Adley Piovesan and Homero Chemale.

Directed by Alexandre Avancini — who directed “The Ten Commandments” and “Nothing to Lose” — the series will be a “family drama with elements of action and investigation” that follows the Brazilian financial market.

The story should revolve around the Salvatore Abud family, whose billionaire patriarch character is called Ítalo and owns one of the largest brokerages in Brazil.

Italo loses his son in a plane crash and starts to raise his two grandchildren in a strict manner. His plans included inserting the boy into the world of family business, but it was his granddaughter who began to live up to his expectations and work on the stock market.

Ítalo’s daughter-in-law, with whom he fought constantly, suffers a mysterious kidnapping, and the billionaire begins to discover that his lover may be involved in his son’s death.

Amid the emotional chaos, Ítalo’s heirs take over the family business.

“I’m excited about this series, as it will be the first to portray the financial market in Brazil,” said director Alexandre Avancini to the portal deadline.

“When the [CEO da Diosual] Guto Colunga invited me to direct, I was completely fascinated by this story. I saw that it was exactly a Brazilian ‘Succession’, being a family drama with all the possible ingredients. Of course, there are many real elements, but we also use artistic freedom. Solange and Thalma knew exactly how to adapt a series that I believe will not only catch the attention of the Brazilian public and critics, but also internationally. I can’t wait to start filming,” Avancini added.
