The meat shooter franchise Serious Sam celebrated its twentieth birthday for a few days – Croteam released Serious Sam: The First Encounter on March 21, 2001. In honor of this momentous event, the developers decided to please the audience by releasing a rather significant update for the second part of the series – Serious Sam 2. It is true, not surprisingly, only fans of the PC platform received the update with the 2.90 index, while on Xbox, naturally, no one released. It is important to note that this is the first update of the game in a decade and a half – the last time Serious Sam 2 received an update in 2006.
In the latest update, gamers received twelve new multiplayer maps that have never been released before – they allow you to significantly refresh the network battles. Also, the developers have delighted fans with a new weapon called BeamGun, as well as a new radar that is capable of detecting various targets including enemies and non-player characters. Surprisingly, the main character was even awarded with new skills that radically change the experience of the gameplay. For example, now Sam can use a rocket jump, carry two barrels of any weapon available to him, he was even taught to run, and the creators of custom add-ons were given access to a flamethrower.
Naturally, in addition to the innovations, the developers have fixed many bugs and flaws that have spoiled gamers’ nerves since 2006, and also worked on the user interface and textures for some barrels. Now Serious Sam 2 looks quite modern (as far as possible for a fifteen-year-old game) and is again ready to delight fans with multiplayer battles.
In addition, in honor of the twentieth anniversary of the franchise, the publisher launched a sale with discounts – the second part, for example, can be picked up for 29 rubles.
