in interview to CNN this Thursday (12), the chief economist at Voiter, Roberto Dumas, said that the service sector in Brazil should continue to register a rise in the IBGE’s monthly survey, but at a slower pace.
“We’re going to keep going up, but as we were on a depreciated basis, maybe at a not-so-fast pace going forward. We are returning to normal activity”, highlighted the economist.
According to Dumas, the rise of 1.7% in March this year compared to the previous month in the service sector was something that exceeded expectations.
“We started from a slightly depreciated base, but it is actually very good news. Projections were that the service would grow 0.7% month-on-month, but we grew 1.7%. And the projection from March last year to this year was up 8.5%, but we grew 11.4%, which is very good,” he said.
The economist pointed out that the economic recovery caused by the end of some restrictions due to Covid-19 were fundamental for the return of economic activity in the country.
“Brazil, in terms of service, with vaccinations up to date and the pandemic cooling down, is improving. Air transport, for example, is something for us to take into account as no one was traveling, taking taxis or transporting apps, and this is increasing now,” she concluded.
