Singer and actor Seu Jorge received authorization from the registry office to register his fourth child with the name “Samba” after justifying the choice of name.
The information was confirmed by Arpen/SP (Association of Natural Persons Registrars of the State of São Paulo).
“Given the reasons presented, which involve the preservation of African links and cultural restoration with its origins, as well as the case study that showed the existence of this name in other countries, I formed my conviction by registering the chosen name, which was drawn up in the today”, explained registrar Kátia Possar.
At first, the request had been denied by the notary’s registration officer for being an unusual name, in addition to a musical style.
This is a practice provided for by law, when the civil registry officer identifies the possibility of embarrassing the child with the name chosen by the parents.
Seu Jorge is the father of three girls: Flor de Maria and Luz Bella, with his ex-wife Mariana Jorge, and Maria Aimée, with Fernanda Mesquista.
Not long ago, he became the father of a boy with his girlfriend Karina Barbieri.
