The German authorities have arrested seven people suspected of being supporters of ISIS as part of a terror financing investigation, prosecutors said today.
At the same time the authorities conducted 19 raids in the states Vadi–Württemberg, Time, Hamburg, You, North Rhineland–Westphalia and Rhineland–Palatinateas well as a property in the Netherlands, adds the statement issued by the federal prosecutor’s office.
The people arrested are suspected of belonging to an international network that solicits financial donations for the Islamic state at Syria through platforms, including Telegram, and then transfer those donations to the organization or its intermediaries.
At least 65,000 euros have been transferred this way, prosecutors said, adding that the money was used to support members of Islamic State who are imprisoned in Syria, in some cases allowing them to escape from prisons.
The seven suspects will appear today and tomorrow, Thursdaybefore a judge, who will decide whether they will remain temporarily detained, as reported by the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.
