Seven buses were kidnapped on the morning of Thursday (10/04) and used as barricades in different parts of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Six of them were intercepted in the Pavuna region, in the North Zone, and one in the yellow line, an important way that connects zones of the capital. The action directly affected several public transport lines.
The episode took place after an action by the Military Police in the Chapadão Complex. According to the 41st BPM (Irajá), police officers were patrolling Sergeant Rego Street when they came across armed men. There was confrontation. Two suspects were shot and taken to Carlos Chagas Hospital. A third was arrested, and two rifles were seized. The occurrence was sent to the 39th DP (Pavuna).
After gunfire, protesters blocked roads with the kidnapped collectives. In Pavuna, the buses were crossed in streets such as Chrisóstomo Pimentel de Oliveira Avenue and Alcobaça Street. One of the vehicles was abandoned on the yellow line, but traffic was released shortly after.
The PM reported that the policing was reinforced in the region and the circulation on the roads has already been normalized.

In a note, Rio Bus stressed that 11 bus lines were affected, impacting the passenger and workers routine. This year alone, the number of buses kidnapped in the city already reaches 49, according to a survey by the concessionaire.
