Seven mistakes in executions in 2022 alone – ‘They couldn’t find the veins to inject’

The prison system of USA is known worldwide, not only because it has too many prisons, compared to the country’s population, but also because the death penalty. But in recent years, support for this practice has waned, while serious backlash has erupted over tragic mistakes that have occurred during execution some death row inmates.

Characteristics, in one case guards cut open a prisoner’s hand to inject while in another the death row inmate himself took matters into his own hands and indicated where the lethal serum should be placed. In fact, only in 2022 there were seven tragic cases, which took place in front of a crowd of people, while in two the authorities officially announced that they could not find a way to kill the prisoner.

The New York Times therefore, they gathered the reasons that allegedly lead to these tragic mistakes, while also quoting the most characteristic cases that caused disgust, after they were made in front of an audience.

Then, in July of this year, members of the Atmore prison staff in Alabama searched for hours for a way to administer a lethal injection the prisoner Joe N. James. All this happened in front of reporters and witnesses of his trial, until they finally found a way to administer the serum.

But because the sight provoked reactions, an investigation was ordered, to find out what went wrong. So far, no official conclusion has been drawn, but authorities have found out how the guards had not only rehearsed; the performance (without the presence of an audience), but also how they had cut off a piece of the hand of the death row inmate, so they are sure where the injection should gowhen the time of execution would come.
