Seven people from the same family died in the early hours of Friday (17) after a serious accident between a van and a bus in the interior of Pernambuco.
The accident occurred in the city of Ouricuri, around 620 kilometers from Recife. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the fatal victims were in the van and were returning from a wake in Arapiraca (AL). They would head to the municipality of Araripina (PE), which is approximately 60 kilometers from the accident site.
The PRF reports that the van crashed into the back of a truck transporting wood.
The van carried 19 people. In addition to the seven dead, 11 people were injured and were taken to the Ouricuri Regional Hospital. The driver and passenger of the truck were not injured.
The PRF adds that a breathalyzer test was carried out on the truck driver, but the result was negative.
