The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Saturday (30) a danger alert for intense rain affecting seven Brazilian states. Forecasts indicate rainfall of between 30 and 60 millimeters per hour or 50 and 100 millimeters per day. The alert is valid until Sunday morning (1st).
The states covered by the alert are: Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Goiás, Minas Gerais and a small part of Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro.
According to Inmet, intense winds of 60 to 100 kilometers per hour are expected, with the risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.
The alert covers the areas of Center Goiano, Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, East Goiano, Central Mineira, Zona da Mata, Center-South Mato Grosso, South Goiano, Northeast Mato Grosso, East of Mato Grosso do Sul, Center North of Mato Grosso do Sul, Campo das Vertentes, Western Tocantins, North Mato Grosso, Southeast Mato Grosso, North Goiano, Metropolitan of Belo Horizonte, Vale do Rio Doce, Northwest Fluminense, Pantanais Sul Mato Grosso, Northwest Goiano, Southwest Mato Grosso, West of Minas, Center Fluminense, East of Tocantins, South Espírito Santo and Northwest of Minas.
Inmet also issued a yellow alert – of potential danger – for intense rains in Rondônia, Amazonas, Pará, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro
There is a possibility of rain between 20 and 30 millimeters per hour or 50 millimeters per day, in addition to winds between 40 and 60 km/h.
Another alert issued by Inmet – valid until Saturday night – is of potential danger for storms in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and a small part of the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.
