Major Ukrainian cities, including Dnipro and Lutsk, are being “subject to devastating blows,” Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, said on Friday.
Explosions closed two boiler houses in Lutsk, located in the far west near the Polish border, while three large explosions were reported in the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk, he wrote on Twitter.
“Dnipro is also under attack,” he added. “Russia’s destructive war against civilians and large cities continues.”
The mayor of Lutsk reported explosions at an airfield in the city, according to Ukrainian news agency UNIAN. Lutsk had not been attacked before. “Explosions towards the airfield. Everyone in the shelter!”, Mayor Ihor Polishchuk reportedly said.
Ukraine’s Emergency Service also said one person in the city of Dnipro died on Friday after three early morning air strikes that hit a kindergarten, an apartment building and a two-story shoe factory.
The air strikes took place around 6:10 am local time in the city’s Novokodatskyi district, the Emergency Service said.
