“Several police officers” were shot in Charlotte, a city in North Carolina, in the United States, police said.
“The situation is still active. Avoid the area. Many roads are closed to expedite ambulance dispatch. Please cooperate with authorities,” highlights the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in the X.
A SWAT team, a special forces group, is at the scene.
“The US Marshals Task Force, comprised of officers from multiple agencies, was conducting an investigation in the area of the 5000 block of Galway Dr when they were attacked by gunfire,” police said.
“Several police officers were hit by gunfire and are being transported to the hospital,” he added.
“Mayor Vi Lyles is monitoring the situation,” added Charlotte city spokesperson Lawrence Corley to CNN.
The police highlighted that “the shooting continues at the location” in a post on X.
