Severe acute respiratory syndrome declines in 21 states and DF, says InfoGripe

Cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) show a downward trend in 22 units of the federation, according to the InfoGripe bulletin released this Thursday (11) by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). The exceptions are Roraima, where there is an upward trend, and Amazonas, Amapá, Maranhão and Piauí, whose incidences have remained stable.

The analysis considers the last six epidemiological weeks, period ended on August 6. In the entire South and Southeast and in much of the Northeast and Midwest, the probability of a fall in SARS cases is greater than 95%.

The monitoring of SARS cases gained prominence during the Covid-19 pandemic, because hospitalizations caused by SARS-CoV-2 came to dominate the viral cases of this syndrome. According to Fiocruz, in the last four weeks, 79.1% of viral SARS cases were caused by the new coronavirus.

Although only the state of Roraima shows an upward trend in the analysis of the last six weeks, when researchers focus on capital cities, there is an increase in the incidence of SARS in Belém, Boa Vista and Recife.
