“Sex and The City, the revival,” costume designer Patricia Field will not be in production. And now?

There always seems to be a revival around the corner right now, but it’s as undeniable as any fan of Sex and The City are shuddering to finally see Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte on the screen. Sure, the iconic Samantha Jones won’t be staged – and the directors’ shared assumptions about the plot that excludes her are at least realistic – but it will still be exciting to see how the show’s stars have progressed in their lives. However, in addition to the absence of the character played by Kim Catrall, another one, albeit different, will feel empty: in fact, taking care of the looks on the set, there will be no more Patricia Field, who over the years has given birth to iconic style moments in Sex and The City.

The famous costume designer will therefore not be involved in the production, but not for lack of will: the main reason is a problem of timing, being already engaged in the filming of the second season of Emily in Paris: “I wasn’t able to be in New York doing this and be in Paris for Emily in Paris,” she told WWD “But I told them to call my very dear friend Molly Rogers, who worked with me at Sex and The City from start to finish ». Do not panic therefore, given that Rogers has numerous – and prestigious – credits behind her, and not only for the work in the series conceived by Darren Star: among others, the costumes for the unforgettable film The devil wears Prada and those of the TV series Ugly Betty.

So we just have to find out how not only the lives of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York have changed, but also how their personal style has evolved, or what the new characters will wear: among these, also the first non-binary character within the cast, played by Sara Ramirez.
