The actress Shannen Dohert known for being part of the cast of “Blocked at the Ball” died at the age of 53, after nine years fighting a breast cancer . The information was confirmed to People magazine this Sunday (14) by the artist’s press office.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease,” Leslie Sloane, Doherty’s publicist, told the publication.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones, as well as her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” it added.
The star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, which went into remission two years later. In 2020, Shannen announced that the disease had returned, had spread, and was in stage 4. Then in June 2023, she shared that the cancer had spread, this time reaching her brain.
“I don’t want to die. I’m not done living. I’m not done loving. I’m not done creating. I’m not done changing things for the better. I’m just not done,” the actress told People.
Shannen explained at the time that her spirituality and faith motivated her to keep fighting and clarified that the terminal illness did not force her to give up on life.
