The singer Shawn Mendes released his new single this Friday (1st). Titled “Heart of Gold” the song is part of his new album, which hits music platforms in November 15th.
With a more acoustic approach, with voice and guitar, the Canadian artist sings about grief and the departure of loved ones. In Brazil, the song had already been presented during their show at Rock in Rio, on September 22nd.
At the time, Mendes explained that the track was made in honor of a childhood friend he lost. “It’s a letter to you, wherever you are, with all the things I could never tell you”, he quoted.
Two weeks ago, at a concert, the musician dedicated the song to Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, who died in Argentina after falling from a hotel balcony.
“He had a beautiful soul,” Shawn said. “It’s about mourning those we miss with tears and also celebrating who they were and what they left in the world,” he mentioned to his fans.
