A 22-year-old teacher’s aide at an Oklahoma school was found in handcuffs after it was revealed that she sex with a student, with whom she began having an affair just two weeks after she was hired.
Ashley Waffle, temporary teaching assistant at Granite Public Schools, started working at school on Oct. 10 and exchanging messages with the 16-year-old on Oct. 25 via Snapchat, according to the KSWO network.
School officials notified police when rumors of her relationship with the student and Waffle spread in a small town of fewer than 2,000.
According to court documents, Waffle had sex with the teenager twice at her apartment before November 9.
Waffle was fired on Nov. 10 and now faces rape charges, which could land her in prison for up to 15 years.
District Superintendent Missy Berry told parents in a letter this week that she is continuing to cooperate with authorities and investigate the case.
