She rejects her boyfriend for giving her a $ 3,000 engagement ring; it seemed cheap

If there is one thing that most brides would like to receive, it is an engagement ring; However, behind this jewel there is always the question of what size it should be, what cost is appropriate and which stones are best for it.

And although those should not be the main details, since a relationship is based on love and not money, they always wreak havoc as happened to a Reddit user, who shared the story of how his girlfriend rejected him after handing her an engagement ring that she considered cheap.

Woman's hand with an engagement ring

It was the boyfriend who anonymously took his story to Reddit, asking other users if he really made a mistake by not investing more money in the engagement ring.

My partner and I have been talking about getting engaged. I have a good job so I could easily have paid for an expensive ring and without even spending 10% of my salary, I am talking about an amount of approximately 20 thousand dollars.

Sadly, my parents, sister, and nephew tested positive for COVID-19, so I took charge of their financial situation for a while. My sister lost her job so I continue to support her. Also in my work they announced a cut of 150 people and although I trust that I am not one of them, I do not guarantee it either.

So I spent $ 3,000 on a little white gold ring with diamonds and a sapphire. At first my girlfriend was happy, but her mother (who is a jeweler) told her it was a cheap ring. So she came back with the ring, gave it back to me and accused me of not appreciating her.

I have tried to talk to them but they won’t listen to me, they just want me to give them a ring equal to 10% of my salary. Am I an idiot for buying the wrong ring?

Despite the multiple comments that this boyfriend has received, he has not responded to his situation again.
