She took a DNA test for fun and the police used it to charge her grandmother with murder in an unsolved case

Jenna Gerwatowski was working at a flower shop in Michigan when she received a call from an unknown number. The now 23-year-old doesn’t usually answer unknown numbers, but she says she decided to answer this one in May 2022. To her surprise, it was a Michigan State Police detective. “He said to me, ‘Have you heard about the Baby Garnet case?'” Jenna told CNN. He had heard her. In 1997, a dead infant was found in a toilet at Garnet Lake Campground – right where Jenna grew up. Investigators were unable to find any clues to the baby’s identity or anyone who saw someone abandon an infant, according to the Michigan attorney general’s office.
