Peru’s Navy boat collided with a Perenco oil pumping platform in the Amazon, killing two people and another being missing, the country’s defense ministry said. Due to the collision, “serious damage” was caused to the Bap Ucayali boat, a cannon specially adapted to river navigation. According to the ministry, the accident occurred near the mouth of the Napo River. The search and rescue operation is ongoing. The ministry noted that 30 crew members have been safely removed and efforts to identify the missing are continuing. “The Navy of Peru is very sorry for the loss of crew members,” he added.
