A export from iron ore do Brasil retreated 63.8% on the average of the first three business days of November, compared to the volume shipped per day in the same month last year, according to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) released this Monday (8th ).
Shipments totaled around 527 thousand tons per day in the first week of the month, versus 1.46 million tons of the daily average for full November in 2020.
The reduction in shipments comes amid a sharp drop in iron ore prices in the China, with weaker demand from the main global buyer.
Me and Soy, another important product in Brazil’s export basket, maintained its strength, with an increase of almost 300% in the daily average, to 286.4 thousand tons/day.
Shipments of the oilseed from Brazil totaled around 860,000 tonnes in three days, more than half the volume seen in November last year (1.435 million tonnes).
