Shipwreck overturned in Niger: More than 100 people are missing

Dramatic moments unfold in Nigeria, as more than 100 people are missing after the sinking of an overloaded vessel with 160 passengers in the Niger River, as reported by the local authorities.

«The boat was carrying about 160 passengers. “It broke in two and sank with everyone on board,” Abdullahi Bukhari Warara, a Cambodian county official, told AFP.

“The rescue operation is underway, but only 22 survivors and a corpse have been retrieved,” he added, according to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.
