Shocking images from chemical plant fire: Cloud of black smoke reaches 100 meters

Shocking are the images broadcast by American media from the fire in chemical plant in Rockton, Central USA.

In fact, the fire caused the evacuation of the area around the unit, where cloud of black smoke reached a height of over one hundred meters.

The plant belongs to the Chemtool group, a subsidiary of the American company Lubrizol, which is being prosecuted in France for the huge fire in Rouen in September 2019, in which 10,000 tons of chemical products were burned.

The fire broke out early in the morning in the Rockton area, 130 kilometers from Chicago and no casualties were reported.

Police ordered the evacuation of the area within a radius of 1.6 km around the unit.

A large fire brigade has been deployed to deal with the blaze and a Fire Department spokesman said it was unable to determine how long it would take to bring it under control.

Lubrizol announced that it is working with federal authorities and experts to monitor the air and water pollution of the Rock River that crosses the city, as broadcast by the French Agency and rebroadcast by the Athens Agency.

Police recommend using a mask within a 5km radius of the site of the fire.

Lubrizol belongs to American billionaire Warren Buffett, one of the richest people in the world.
