Shocking satellite images from Libya: Storm Daniel formed ‘small lakes’ in the heart of the Sahara

THE bad weather Daniel passed through Greece and continues to Libyawith satellite images released showing that it has so much rainso that water surfaces are formed in Saharawhich look like lakes.

According to meteo.gr of the National Observatory, the images that reveal the extent of the floods are the images provided by the Sentinel 2 satellite of the European Copernicus Program.

The double image below shows Northeast Libya, before and after DANIEL’s passage. As can be seen, the flooded areas formed water surfaces that look like lakes in the heart of the Sahara.

It is noted that, after Greece, the bad weather hit with great severity during the period 9-12 September, North Africa and especially Libya where more than 5000 people lost their lives, while 8000 are injured and missing.
