A video from Gauze posted on social networking sites and verified by Reuters shows the bodies of at least seven people on a street south of besieged Gaza City.
Reuters verified the location of the video, on Al Rashid Beach Road, between the city and the Wadi Gaza River. He was however unable to verify the exact date it was filmed, only that it was posted on social media sites before Friday. The identity of the person who took the video and who is depicted in it is unknown.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request by the agency for comment on the footage.
The video shows debris and many personal items scattered among the bodies. At least one child is among the victims. There are blood stains on the road.
The video appears to have been taken by a man or boy cycling down the street and can be heard talking and then crying. At some point, another person on a bicycle can be seen behind him.
“My God, a child. God, women. Oh my god, the girl. Please God, protect our people. Please have a look» the cyclist can be heard saying in Arabic.
Israel announced late Thursday night that its forces had surrounded Gaza City. Health services in the Hamas-controlled enclave say that shelling over the past three weeks has killed 9,227 people, including 3,826 children.
Some of the Palestinians fleeing northern Gaza in recent days accused Israel of targeting those trying to move south. Last month Israel ordered all civilians to leave northern Gaza and Gaza City and head south, although shelling continued.
