A police officer’s attempt to perform a welfare check on 33-year-old Sydney Wilson, who was shot dead after a knife attack, ended tragically. The incident took place on September 16 at Wilson’s apartment in Reston, Virginia. Officer Peter Liu, with 14 years of experience in crisis management, arrived at the scene to check on Wilson at the request of a mental health professional. After knocking on the door, Wilson initially opened it, but slammed it shut when Liu informed her of his identity. According to the Daily Mail, after three minutes of continuous attempts to open the door, the six-foot-tall Wilson finally got out and attacked the officer with a knife, stabbing him multiple times in the face.
