Two people were killed and at least eight wounded in a shooting in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday, according to a spokesman for the Ichilov hospital, which treats the wounded.
Four of the injured underwent surgery, the hospital says, and are in serious or critical condition. Another two are described in a moderate to severe condition. The condition of the other two injured is described as less serious.
A police commander said the attack took place at a bar on Dizengoff Street in the center of the city. According to Reuters, the street is known for bringing together several bars.
The police official said it was unclear whether the attack was carried out by more than one attacker. A search for the man is underway, he added.
Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai recently spoke on Israeli television and told the city’s residents to stay at home.
