Shopify adds support for NFT direct selling

Shopify, a Canadian e-commerce platform serving over 1.7 million businesses in 175 countries, has given businesses the ability to sell NFTs directly to customers.

How stated Shopify president Harley Finkelstein, previously sellers had to sell NFT through third-party marketplaces. This deprived them of control over the sales process and customer relationships.

“We are putting power back into the hands of sellers and improving convenience for buyers,” Finkelstein wrote.

One of the first NFT sellers on Shopify was the NBA’s Chicago Bulls professional basketball team. At the beginning of the week, the team released the NFT Legacy Collection.

Shopify started partnering with CoinPayments last May. This allowed businesses using the platform to accept payments in cryptocurrencies.

At the beginning of last year, Shopify, together with the startup Real Items Foundation, conducted beta testing of a new plugin on the VeChain blockchain and the TAM cloud application for verifying the authenticity of tokenized goods.
