A survey carried out by ManpowerGroup pointed out that the lack of skilled labor in Brazil reached the mark of 81% in 2022 – the global average is 75%.
The consultancy heard from 40,000 employers in 40 countries and 3 out of 4 entrepreneurs report difficulties finding talent.
In an interview with CNN Radio the director of strategic people management at ManpowerGroup, Wilma Dal Col, explained that the pandemic “stepped on the accelerator” of the problem, but did not cause it.
“Each year, companies find it more difficult to fill vacancies, from the simplest to some functions that require greater preparation and training”, he evaluated.
These difficulties are related “to the advancement and development of technology, which is increasingly bringing agile solutions and demands the best of human competence.”
“Qualified labor is not just training and carrying out activities, but behaviors and human skills that can make a difference.”
the calls soft skills require the “human being to improve the capacity for relationships and integrated work, for example.”
Companies, faced with this situation, can follow two paths, according to Wilma: one with a short-term approach and the other with a sustainable approach.
“The first is to question how I am attracting and retaining talent, if I have the best selection practices and offering what they want, and sustainability is working with the preparation of professionals, being a talent pool, not people who are ready right away.”
At the same time, the director reinforces that the change is “in the hands of the professional too”: “It is a two-way street, individual choices are part of it, the value proposition for the career is important and it is in their hands.”
The segments in which talent is most in demand, according to the survey, are: information technology, customer service, logistics and operations, and marketing and sales.
