Sicily again yellow zone due to coronavirus – ICU imports increase

Its transformation Of Sicily in the “yellow zone” is expected to be decided today by the Italian health authorities.

The reason is the increase in admissions to the wards and intensive care units of the island’s hospitals.

The decision is expected to take effect next Monday and is due to the fact that in hospital wards patients with coronavirus exceeded 15% of the total and in the intensive care units 10%.

This region of Italy is a “tail” in terms of vaccinations: so far, only 60% of the population has secured the shield of protection against covid 19. At the same time, according to a response from the Athens News Agency, the average number of people vaccinated across the country reaches 68% of the population over the age of 12.

The rest of Italy remains a white zone for the time being. It is reminded that in the areas that turn into a yellow zone, the residents must wear a protective mask and in the open spaces, while the attendants can not exceed four at each table of the restaurants.

According to Italian media, there is strong concern that the increase in cases and hospital admissions in Sicily is likely to continue in the coming days. In Calabria and Sardinia, finally, there is an increase in the occupancy of hospitals, which is estimated that could lead to restrictive measures within a week.
