Sicily is the first Italian region to have yellow zone numbers and then to take the step back after two months in the blank with the minimum of restrictions. The region has exceeded the three parameters set by the new rules for the passage of the band. The incidence per 100 thousand inhabitants is 186.27 when the limit is 150. The percentage of beds in non-critical areas occupied is at 20%, therefore over 15. Intensive care occupancy is 11%, one point over the line.
The official status only in the afternoon of today 27 August, and in this case, new rules from 30.
It has been the region with the most cases in Italy for days. President Nello Musumeci wrote on Facebook: “As many as 78 of the 102 ICU patients are not vaccinated. We will continue to do everything, but also the citizens do their part. Get vaccinated ».
Sicily has the lowest percentage of vaccinated people in Italy. Only 55.2% of the population received two doses against the Italian average of 62.2%. 36.3% of the population is not vaccinated against an Italian average of 29.3%. One in three Sicilians is not yet vaccinated and it is this fact, more than any other, that makes the difference. For this the region increases the restrictions starting from Monday 30 August. There are no further closures, the curfew is not back and there are no travel restrictions, but there are other things that change if you enter the yellow zone.
