US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today that it remains to be seen whether Tehran is willing to move forward with reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, but sidestepped the question of whether Washington is ready to return to talks on the issue.
In particular, when asked if the US was ready to resume talks, Mr. Blinken replied that “the EU has put forward a better proposal based on many months of discussions, negotiations and talks. It is very consistent with something they proposed in March, which we agreed to we pursue it”.
The US Secretary of State added that “it remains to be seen whether Iran is willing and able to move forward. So we remain ready to move forward based on what has been agreed upon. It is not yet clear whether Iran is ready to do so.”
