SilentiumPC Fluctus 120 PWM fan blade shape selected with psychoacoustic considerations in mind

Introducing the Fera 5 and Fera 5 Dual Fan processor cooling systems in April, SilentiumPC promised that the new Fluctus 120 PWM fans used in their design will be available separately. The manufacturer kept his word – the new product appeared in the catalog. It is priced at 10.90 euros.

The Fluctus 120 PWM fan is designed in conjunction with Synergy Cooling and features high static pressure, high airflow and low noise. It can be installed both on LSS radiators with a high density of fins, and in housings, the ventilation openings of which are covered with filters. The design includes an upgraded fluid dynamic bearing with an MTBF of 100,000 hours. The manufacturer provides a six-year warranty on the fan.

The good performance of the Fluctus 120 PWM is provided by a nine-blade impeller with serrated leading edges. The shape of the blades was chosen taking into account psychoacoustics – the noise spectrum is obtained in such a way that the noise is perceived as more “pleasant” at the same level. Dampers are installed around the perimeter to prevent vibration transmission. The rotation speed is adjustable in the range of 300-1800 rpm. The fan automatically stops when the PWM duty cycle falls below 5% and restarts when it rises above 10%. The fan is equipped with a 4-pin power cable with a built-in splitter, which allows a second fan to be daisy-chained. The kit includes a 40 cm extension cord.
