Simone Biles, one of the great athletes in gymnastics, decides to withdraw from the Olympics for mental health

Earlier today, Simone Biles made the difficult decision to withdraw in the women’s group gymnastics final during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, citing concerns for her mental health after a difficult horse jump during the start of the competence.

The four-time Olympic medalist stated that she has been going through difficult times over the past few days and that, after the complex jump, she decided it was important to step back from the competition, but that she has full faith that her teammates will win the medal of gold.

Biles will take it easy for the next few days instead of making rash decisions about whether or not to compete in the general final this coming Thursday, as his own well-being is his top priority for the moment.

There is more to life than just gymnastics. I feel like I haven’t had fun like before. I wanted these Olympics to be for me, but I arrived and I feel like I’ve been doing everything for others. It hurts my soul that doing something I love is taken from me to please other people.

In his absence, the Russian team managed to obtain the gold medal, defeating the United States, which performed admirably despite the absence of one of its biggest stars. It is the first time that the American team has lost in this category since 2010.

Representatives of the American team declared that the successful gymnast decided to retire due to medical problems and that during the following hours she will be advised and monitored to determine her participation in future competitions.

At the end of the day, what I want is to be able to walk out of here, not be carried by someone else on a stretcher. I just don’t trust myself as much as I used to. I don’t know if it’s my age, but I feel a little more nervous when I do gymnastics. I also feel that I have not had fun as before, and I know that it is so.
