Simone Biles returns to compete for the first time since the Tokyo Games

Simone Biles, a gymnast originally from the United States, will return to compete in August after her last participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as reported by the American Gymnastics Federation through its social networks.

Simone has made history after winning five medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, four golds and one bronze, and two at the Tokyo Games, one silver and one bronze. In these last games, the gymnast withdrew almost at the end of the competition due to an anxiety and depression crisis that caused an episode of mental-body disconnection, in which, according to her own words, she was not able to control her movements as usual.

Two years after that episode, Simone says she is ready to return to the podium, being part of the 2023 US Classic competition, where the best gymnasts in the United States meet in order to qualify for the country’s Gymnastics Championship.

Coming up for the US Classic… A trio of Olympic gold medalists headline the list of registered athletes for the 2023 US Classic, taking place on August 4-5.

Said competition will take place on August 4 and 5 at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, located in Chicago. There, Simone will face 11 participants, who, like her, are looking for their qualifying pass.

Simone’s return marks a before and after both in her professional career and in her private life, because during this period of absence, the athlete underwent therapies to recover her mental health, reminding us that we must prioritize ourselves to achieve our dreams .
