Simone Biles shares the real reasons she decided to withdraw from the Olympics

Simone Biles is still in the news after she suffered from a mental block during her most recent practice session at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which is known as twisties within the world of gymnastics.

Biles posted two videos on his Instagram account where he was trying to do a bar routine. However, it was clear that she was not prepared, as during one of the jumps she fell abruptly on her back, unsure of the balance of her own body.

Although she deleted the publication, the medalist shared a series of messages in which she explains in detail how worrying it is to experience this type of mental block, since, inevitably, her body loses its sense of orientation and the fear of falling ends up paralyzing her .

I don’t think they understand how dangerous this can be on a hard surface, without the supportive mattresses we use in practice. There are times when I can’t even understand how to turn, I don’t really understand how I have done it before.

Biles decided to withdraw from team competition last Tuesday after several problems with his routine. The famous athlete attempted to complete the Amanar jump, one of the most difficult, landing after just one spin in the air.

The gymnast also decided to take a step back from last Thursday’s competitions, although she stayed to support Sunisa Lee, who became the first Miao-American to win the gold medal in the individual gymnastics category.

Biles has already experienced the twisties previously, as happened weeks before the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where he won five Olympic medals, four of them in first place. However, now the mental blocks have been in all practices.

This time it has been at all the events, which is really horrible. Horrible. I literally can’t tell the difference between up and down, it’s the weirdest feeling in the world. Not being able to have even a little control over your own body. What scares me the most is that since I have no idea where I am in the air, I have no way of knowing how to land or what I’m going to land on, head, hands, feet, back.
