An agreement (memorandum of understanding) to jointly develop a lunar research station, either in orbit around the moon or on its surface or both, was signed – via video conference – by the Russian space agency Roscosmos and the Chinese National Space Agency CNSA.
The station, with the name International Scientific Lunar Station will be used by both countries and a wide range of scientific studies will be done on it, while at the same time it will help in the exploration and utilization of the Moon, as broadcast by AMPE.
The two countries will cooperate in all stages of the plant’s development, from its design to its operation. They also said they would promote international co-operation, giving each country equal access to the station, according to the BBC and Agence France-Presse.
This year, the Russia celebrates the 60th anniversary of the world’s first manned space flight, the Soviet Yuri Gagarin in April 1961, which was followed, two years later, by the first woman in space, the Soviet Valentina Tereskova.
Russia has not signed the new international “Artemis Agreement”, promoted by the US Space Agency (NASA) for the new exploration of the Moon. Obviously, Russia prefers to do something similar to China’s cooperation, attracting other countries to their own space “chariot”. THE China, for its part, has great space ambitions and already has a presence on the Moon and Mars with the respective missions.
