The Ministry of Education (MEC) opens registrations for the Unified Selection System (Sisu) 2024 this Monday (22). This year, 264,360 places will be offered in 127 public higher education institutions across Brazil.
Interested parties have until 11:59 pm next Thursday (25) to register.
See the schedule:
- Registration: from January 22nd to 25th
- Result: January 30th
- Registration of those selected: February 1st to 7th
- Expression of interest on the waiting list: January 30th to February 7th
Who can register
To participate in Sisu, interested parties must have participated in the most recent edition of the National High School Exam (Enem). In other words, for Sisu 2024, it is necessary to have taken the 2023 Enem. The Enem score was released by the federal government last week.
In addition to having taken the Enem, the candidate cannot have received a zero grade in the essay. Participation in Sisu is also prohibited to those who took the Enem as trainees.
How to sign up
Registration is all done online, through the Single Portal for Access to Higher Education. Access is via registration on the gov.br portal.
It is possible to enroll in two course options and there are no fees charged
Is it possible to change course options?
Yes. While the registration period is open, the candidate can change their course and institution options as many times as they deem necessary.
However, at the end of registration, the last option chosen by the candidate will be considered valid.
Passing score
Throughout the registration period, the system displays, once a day, the cutoff score for each course based on the number of places available and the total number of candidates enrolled in that course and in that type of competition.
The cut-off score is the lowest score necessary for the candidate to be among the group of potentially selected people.
The MEC warns, however, that the cut-off score displayed during the registration period is only a reference for the candidate to monitor their situation, and is not a guarantee of selection for the selected vacancy. “The system does not calculate in real time and the cut-off score is modified according to the score of those enrolled. The cut-off score will only be informed by the system from the second day of registration, says the department.
Partial classification
While registrations are open – until the 25th, therefore – the candidate will be able to check their partial classification in the chosen course.
As with the daily cut-off grade bulletins, the partial classification is just a reference. “At the end of the registration period, the list of selected candidates is published. In the monitoring bulletin, the candidate can check their classification and the final result”, explains the ministry.
Waiting list
Anyone who is not selected in the regular call for the two course options chosen may express an interest in joining the waiting list.
The Ministry of Education explains that a suitable candidate may express interest in the first or second course option chosen.
