Six people are killed in celebration of Botafogo’s title in RJ

The celebration by Botafogo fans for the unprecedented Copa Libertadores title ended with six dead in different parts of Rio de Janeiro.

Two deaths were recorded in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio, and another in Belford Roxo, in the Baixada Fluminense region. The two attacks that caused the deaths took place in bars in the respective cities.

Deaths in Belford Roxo

Four people died and one was injured after being shot in a bar in Belford Roxo (RJ), in Baixada Fluminense. The case occurred last Sunday (1st).

According to the Civil Police, the victims were identified as Douglas de Moura Costa and Carlos Augusto Soares Batista, both 39 years old, Robert de Paula, 28, and Leandro Marciano Azevedo, 31.

As reported by CNN, the shots were fired by suspects who were in a white vehicle. Furthermore, one person was injured and was taken to the Belford Roxo Municipal Hospital and later transferred to the Adão Pereira Nunes Hospital, in Duque de Caxias.

The case is investigated by the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police Station.

Deaths in Niterói

Two people were killed and four others were injured by gunfire on Saturday night (30), near a bar, in the central region of Niterói. Everyone involved was celebrating Botafogo winning the Copa Libertadores.

According to the civil police, Michel da Silva Campos Pereira was found dead near Rua General Andrade Neves. Nearby, Janete Regina Batista was rescued with gunshot wounds, but ended up not resisting and died on Sunday night (1).

According to police, four other people were also shot and taken to Azevedo Lima Hospital. Their health status has not yet been disclosed.

The Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Homicide Police Station was called and will investigate the case, to try to discover the motivation for the crime and the identity of the suspects.
