Six people were killed and another wounded in a shooting in a run-down suburb of Durban, home to a major port city South Africaas the police announced.
The attack was committed on Friday night (at 22:30 Greek time), in a house where seven men were in the suburb of Clermont, northwest of the capital of KwaZulu-Natal province. The attackers appeared and opened fire unexpectedly, police said.
“Six people were killed by bullets and another was injured”according to the same img, who did not publicly speculate on the causes of the massacre.
A serial murder and attempted murder investigation is underway. Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or knows anything about the case to contact them.
“Nothing can justify such barbaric killings”said the head of police in the province, Lt. Gen. Nslansla Mkwanazi.
Some 70 murders are committed in South Africa a day, according to the latest official statistics, released in October. The country’s crime rate is among the highest in the world.
