Six states have started vaccinating children against dengue

Vaccination against dengue has already started in at least six of the ten states selected by the Ministry of Health to receive the initial batch of 712 thousand doses. The distribution of dengue vaccines to 315 municipalities began on February 8th.

Vaccination has already started in the Federal District and Goiás, two of the regions with the highest rates of contamination, and also in the capitals Campo Grande (MS), Salvador (BA), São Luís (MA) and Rio Branco (AC). In Natal (RN) and João Pessoa (PB), vaccination is expected to start next Monday (19).

In São Paulo, cities in the state begin vaccinating on the 20th. In Amazonas, there is still no date to begin immunization.

The Ministry of Health selected ten states to begin immunizing children aged 10 to 11. The first batch will include 315 municipalities that meet the criteria defined by the Ministry of Health in conjunction with the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) and the National Council of Municipal Health Secretaries (Conasems).

This shipment serves 60% of the total of 521 selected municipalities. The forecast is that the remaining cities will receive the doses by the first half of March.

Federal District

The Federal District was the first unit of the federation to begin the vaccination campaign against dengue through the Unified Health System (SUS). In the first seven days of the campaign, 15,675 children aged 10 and 11 were immunized against the disease.

Goiás

The state of Goiás began this Thursday (15) vaccinating children aged 10 and 11 against dengue. More than 151 thousand doses were distributed to 51 cities selected by the Ministry of Health. On Thursday (15), the Department of Health began distributing vaccines to the cities of Abadiânia, Alexânia, Águas Lindas de Goiás, Cidade Oeste, Cristalina , Luziânia, Novo Gama, Santo Antônio do Descoberto and Valparaíso de Goiás, Formosa and Planaltina de Goiás.

Mato Grosso do Sul

In Campo Grande (MS), the vaccine is now available in more than 50 basic and family health units spread across the seven urban regions of the municipality. In less than a week of campaigning, the city surpassed the mark of 1,000 children aged 10 to 11 vaccinated against dengue. The first shipment of vaccines arrived in the municipality last Saturday, with 24,639 doses. The government of Mato Grosso do Sul received 69,570 doses of dengue vaccine from the Ministry of Health and began distribution to serve 76 municipalities in the state.

Bahia

Salvador began vaccination against dengue this Thursday (15) in 30 health centers. The Municipal Health Department received the first batch of vaccine with 56,493 doses. The state of Bahia received the first shipments of the vaccine with 70,368 thousand doses that will be destined for the municipalities of Salvador, Lauro de Freitas, Vera Cruz, Madre de Deus, São Francisco do Conde, Itaparica, Candeias, Santo Amaro, São Sebastião do Passé and Saubara. Another 32,290 doses were allocated to municipalities in the Feira de Santana region and 17,450 to municipalities in the Camaçari region.

Maranhão

São Luís (MA) started the vaccination campaign against dengue this Friday (16). In this first stage, the vaccine will be offered at Saúde na Hora Units and, from Monday (19), doses will be available in all Basic Health Units, Dr. Paulo Ramos Medical Specialties Outpatient Clinic and APAE. According to the State Department of Health, in addition to the capital, four other priority municipalities will, in this phase, carry out the application of the first dose of the dengue vaccine, among children aged 10 to 11: São José de Ribamar, Paço do Lumiar , Fox and Alcântara. In total, 40,610 doses were sent to Maranhão.

Acre

The city of Rio Branco (AC) also began vaccinating children and adolescents aged 10 to 11 this Friday (16). 11,500 doses of the vaccine were made available to the capital. Acre received 17,810 doses of the vaccine that will be distributed among 11 municipalities: Acrelândia, Bujari, Capixaba, Jordão, Manoel Urbano, Plácido de Castro, Porto Acre, Rio Branco, Santa Rosa do Purus, Sena Madureira and Senador Guiomard.

In Natal (RN), immunization should begin next Monday (19). The first batch of vaccine, with 45,190 doses, arrived in the state last Thursday (15). In the first phase of the campaign, young people aged 10 to 11 from 19 cities will be immunized. The municipalities covered in the state are: Natal, São Gonçalo do Amarante, Macaíba, Extremoz and Parnamirim, in the Metropolitan Region; Mossoró, Baraúna, Apodi, Upanema, Tibau, Governador Dix-sept Rosado, Felipe Guerra, Caraúbas, Serra do Mel, Areia Branca, Messias Targino, Grossos, Janduís and Campo Grande, in West Potiguar.

Paraíba

In João Pessoa (PB), vaccination against dengue begins next Monday (19). The state health department distributed 37,040 doses of the Qdenga vaccine to the 14 municipalities, which will begin implementing vaccination among the target audience. Most municipalities will start vaccination from next Monday (19). Each municipality has the autonomy to define the immunization schedule and the strategies that will be used to vaccinate the target audience. In addition to João Pessoa, vaccination will begin in the cities of Santa Rita, Cabedelo, Bayeux, Conde, Caaporã, Sapé, Alhandra, Pitimbu, Cruz do Espírito Santo, Lucena, Mari, Riachão do Poço and Sobrado.

São Paulo

In São Paulo, there is still no forecast for the start of vaccination. The State Department of Health sent 79,400 doses of dengue vaccine to the Epidemiological Surveillance Group (GVE) of Mogi das Cruzes this Thursday (15) to be distributed to the 11 municipalities of Alto Tietê, previously defined by the Ministry of Health: Guarulhos, Suzano, Guararema, Itaquaquecetuba, Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Mogi das Cruzes, Poá, Arujá, Santa Isabel, Biritiba-Mirim and Salesópolis. The application of the vaccine will follow the municipalities' own calendar and strategy.

Amazon

Amazonas received 78,760 doses of the dengue vaccine sent by the Ministry of Health. The dengue vaccine will be destined for 12 municipalities in the state: Manaus, Iranduba, Presidente Figueiredo, Rio Preto da Eva, Barcelos, São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Careiro, Nova Olinda do Norte, Manaquiri, Santa Isabel do Rio Negro, Autazes and Careiro da Várzea.
