The Swiss stock exchange SIX Swiss Exchange reported that in February 2022, the trading volume of cryptocurrencies decreased by 4% compared to the previous month.
Amid growing investor interest in cryptocurrency derivatives, the SIX Swiss Exchange has seen an increase in trading activity over the past two years. However, according to the exchange report, the February turnover with cryptocurrencies as an underlying asset did not exceed 296.4 million Swiss francs (CHF).
In total, 175 goods were sold on the Swiss stock exchange and 17,735 transactions were concluded. The highest turnover and the largest number of transactions were registered with the exchange product based on ether Amun Ethereum ETP (AETH) – 54.4 million CHF and 2,042 transactions.
Last year, six issuers of cryptocurrency investment products entered the SIX Swiss Exchange: Iconic Funds, ETC Group, CoinShares, SEBA, Tabula and Exane. In total, the exchange offers more than 90 ETPs and structured products for traders and investors that track various cryptocurrencies.
In addition, SIX Swiss Exchange became a member of an Accenture-led consortium and took part in a series of experiments to test cross-border payments in central bank digital currency.
