Skin may indicate serious vascular problems: Check out Pripido Signs

The skin is the largest organ in the human body and often reflects signs of what is happening internally. Although it is often seen as a protective barrier, it can also function as a mirror of vascular health. Diseases that affect blood vessels, such as varicose veins, thrombosis and arterial insufficiencies, can manifest through spots, wounds or swelling visible on the skin.

Spots, wounds and swelling: warning signs

Purple or reddish spots are often the first signs of vascular changes. Petéchias – small red or purplish spots – arise when vessels break and may indicate purple or thrombocytopenia (platelet reduction). Varicose veins, dilated and tortuous veins usually in the legs can cause brown spots caused by blood accumulation and liquid extravasation to the skin.

Difficult wounds, such as varicose ulcers, are associated with untreated varicose veins. Already wounds caused by ischemia (lack of blood) are common in people with diabetes, peripheral arterial diseases or vasculitis. Persistent swelling in the legs and feet can be a sign of varicose veins, lymphedema or lipedema. If the swelling is sudden and located in only one leg, with intense pain, it may indicate deep vein thrombosis (TVP), a severe condition with Risk of pulmonary embolism.

Most common vascular diseases with manifestations on the skin

  • Varicose veins – Vilated veins visible under the skin, associated with pain, discomfort, blemishes and, in advanced cases, wounded.
  • Deep venous thrombosis (TVP) – Clot formation in deep veins, with symptoms such as swelling, pain and alteration in skin coloration.
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (DAP) – Obstruction of arteries that irrigate limbs, with symptoms such as walking pain, cold ends and not healing wounds.
  • LINFEDEMA – Lymph accumulation in tissues, generating progressive swelling, skin thickening and risk of recurring infections.

Early diagnosis can avoid complications

Note changes such as stains, wounds that do not heal or unusual swelling, it is important to look for a specialist. The diagnosis usually involves a detailed clinical evaluation, medical history and image exams such as vascular ultrasound. Early identifying vascular diseases allows more effective treatment, avoiding complications and promoting higher quality of life.

Conclusion

The skin can be an ally in the diagnosis of vascular diseases. Observing signs such as stains, wounds and swelling and seeking medical evaluation at the first sign of change is critical to preventing serious complications.

Awareness of skin signs of vascular diseases is a form of care for integral health and can make a difference in early detection and treatment success.
