Skoda will have three brand new electric cars by 2026

Following the example of competitors, the course towards the electrification of the model range, the Czech brand Skoda has actively taken up the development of new cars on an electric platform. So, in the next three to four years, the Volkswagen Group-owned company plans to bring three new all-electric models to the market.

Skoda promises to introduce three new electric cars by 2026. What kind of models they will be and what characteristics they will be endowed with, the manufacturer chose to remain silent. But on the other hand, he said that the issue would not be limited to the release of these cars, and after 2026, other fully electric cars will appear under the Skoda brand.

Now Skoda management has set a new goal for the company. By 2030, the share of electric cars in the total sales of Skoda cars in the European market should be at least 70%. This means that the brand does not plan to completely abandon cars with classic internal combustion engines by the end of this decade.

The release of electric cars is not the only environmental initiative of Skoda. The company also plans to achieve the highest possible carbon neutrality at all stages of the production of its cars. The Skoda plant in the Czech city of Vrchlabí became CO2-neutral at the end of 2020, by 2025 the brand’s plants in India will achieve this goal, and by 2030 two other plants in the Czech Republic in Kvasiny and Mladá Boleslav will achieve this goal.

The company also actively uses recycled materials in its vehicles, including steel, aluminum, glass, plastic and even insulating materials. For example, in the case of the Skoda Octavia, recycled materials account for a third of all raw materials used.
